Background: Post-secondary social work degree followed by a long career working in various capacities/communities focusing on mental health, helped found the Waskoosis Safe Shelter for women and children experiencing domestic violence in Meadow Lake, served as the Indian residential school councillor for the La Ronge Indian band, worked at the La Loche detox centre, prevention worker in Patuanak, current elder in residence for Northlands College, joined Cameco as Elder Advisor/Knowledge keeper at McArthur River in October 2023

McIntyre says wellness is about focusing on how to live a good life and better oneself. She wants people to allow themselves to recognize and accept their emotions rather than suppress them. She says if people don’t take care of their mental health, it will get in the way of performing at work and meeting the needs of others – and themselves.
