Making a Difference

Cameco works collaboratively with indigenous communities in northern Saskatchewan to ensure the uranium industry brings mutual prosperity. By focusing on workforce development, business development, community investment, community engagement and environmental stewardship, the partners are providing for the communities today and building for the future.

Cameco is pleased to announce that thirty northern students are the recipients of the Cameco Northern Saskatchewan Scholarship for 2023 - a record-breaking amount of scholarships awarded. This scholarship program is one of the ways that Cameco seeks to make a positive difference in northern Saskatchewan. A grand total of $50,000 was distributed to the recipients representing sixteen different communities in northern Saskatchewan.

Cameco, Orano and northern communities have a long history of working together and collaborating for mutual prosperity. 2020 was no exception. In fact, last year we all faced significant challenges – the dynamics of an ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, continued weak uranium markets and care and maintenance of McArthur River/Key Lake and Rabbit Lake operations.
